There is an ineffable sweetness in gazing upon empty streets,

as though the dreams and longings of those who inhabit them

revealed themselves in the silences,

without the interference of voices clouding the glass of dawn.

The first glances of the day accompany me,

filled with a restrained, almost naïve hope.

It is difficult not to surrender to the beauty of this city,

so radiant even in its darkness,

where every ray of sunlight feels like a suspended promise.

Preserving my freedom within this refuge

has also meant accepting the sighs

left behind by love when it has not even faded away.

Immense losses that, though they do not uphold my certainties,

confront me with the decisions that define my present.
